Capturing the good, the bad and the ugly of lesser-known Spain and now Southeast Asia
(1/250, F5.6, ISO100, 214mm)
Great! Really interesting shot!
Gracias for the compliment!
Excellent shot. I find it quite sinister, especially as it’s titled by a (the) Travis Bickle quote. The hood reminds me of the Klu Klux Clan – shudder shudder.
Thanks very much (maye it is Travis in there!! It is a bizarre and sinister sight, although when you see them afterwards with their hats in hand drinking in a bar or alone walking the streets they seem human 🙂
To my knowledge there’s no direct link with the KKK; maybe early members saw a procession once and liked the sinister (and anonymous) look!
Love the vibrant colors 🙂
Thanks, I guess they use some good washing powder.
Really nice shot. Love the framing against the wooden door, the blue stands out nicely on the brown background.
Thanks a lot, Stevie!
The framing of the door was my intention; that he was standing still and looking was a bonus 🙂
The blue against the brown is startling. Can someone explain the pointy hat/mask, please?
Thx! The hats are used during the processions (different colors for different churches) in the holy week of Easter here in Spain.
Yes, I understand that, but I’ve always wondered why mask the face and why so tall and pointy. Just one of those life’s mysteries, I guess…
Oh, sorry for underestimating you 🙂
No clue why it is this shape, but it’s a nice subject for photography…
Gracias, enjoyed your shots of the processions as well!
Very well-tailored this penitent!
